Agenda:

--

        * Jason - update everyone on use of lyx to generate cookbook in

          multiple output formats

        * "Publicity blurb" - discuss Network Magazine article idea

        * Egon - report on status of DoD if he's attending.  (Jill &

          Egon spoke a few weeks ago; SURFnet is proceeding with the

          TIO/DoD work and should have it ready by I2 meeting.)

        * "simple-minded" Dod search, written by Aditya -

          http://metric.it.uab.edu:11080/vc/ (look for Larry Amiot - he

          shows up -or look at me; I'm in several directories).  Plan to

pretty up a bit,

          add a few other search options, and publish as example Java code.

        * CGU - update on authentication coding

        * RADVISION - update on H.350 enabled GK/endpoint ?

<Jason>

  * Any changes to previous minutes ? (There were none)

  * Disadvantages of HTML for cookbook: Cannot group edit.

  * Disadvantages of .doc format: Table of contents does not update

    automatically when sections were changed. (unlike lyx where it is

    automatic).

  * Advantages of .lyx:

     * Jill and Jason can both edit it and not have clashes,

     * Archived in versioning system (CVS), so older versions can be

       retrieved.

     * Only 1 master document, used to produce various output formats :

       HTML, DVI, PDF etc

</Jason>

<Tyler>

  * Cost is very high for reprints if we want to use magazine reprint

    (from Network magazine) as publicity material for CTOs, zone admins.

  * Recognize that magazine reprints are more impressive.

  * May decide depending on what is more important: Glitz or money.

</Tyler>

<Jason>

  * A combination of both may also be useful, ie. both magazine reprint as

    well as self published documents.

</Jason>

<Tyler>

  * Agree. Undecided for now.

  * We NEVER have full editorial control over article, It may not say what

    we want it to.

  * VERY IMP that the article not mention Radvision's name, without their

    permission as they are likely to have their own marketing plans.

  * Can UAB take a look and see if the simple meta directory LDAP search

    can adopt the UNC vide interface

  * Radvision update: It is very close to testing the gatekeeper.
