Samir asked Jill if
she was still willing to give her presentation to
students at
C.G.U. on the 24th of November. Jill agreed and asked to
setup
a date for testing between U.A.B. and C.G.U.
Samir provided
his review of the NSF MWIR meeting. Much of the time was
spent
on the Grid Center.
Nadim provided a review of the discussion
on "Next Steps" for video
(VidMid-VC). He said
there was no consensus on what the next step
should be, though
there were some suggestions. It was asked whether or
not we
need Shibboleth for Videoconferencing. That question has not
yet
been answered. Someone also suggested doing something
similar to the
'vcard' but for videoconferencing; the
'vconf'.
Jill mentioned that we will not have the full-blown
"Next Steps"
discussion with Tyler absent. She
said to push this item to the next
meeting's agenda.
Jill
said that Jason had reorganized the cookbook and that it is
now
online.
Samir provided a couple of ideas for "Next
Steps" for this group. His
first idea was to develop
with the Open Source Proxy. The next idea was
to explore the
security with a project called MySIP, a small, portable
SIP
architecture over a wireless laptop connection.
Samir also
said that C.G.U. has received the Wave3 MCU but that they
have not
installed it yet as it is a very large installation. He
also
mentioned that Session currently only supports Wavelet
codecs.
C.G.U. is also interested in Ubiquity Software's Audio
conferencing and
bridging product. They agreed to give
C.G.U. the software but the audio
mixing is done in expensive
hardware that is provided by an outsource.
C.G.U. would also
like to test interoperability with the RADVISION SIP
MCU.
U.N.C. has this product and Nadim is to provide the IP address
and
other connection information to Samir.
Samir has
contacted IPFreedom in the hopes of acquiring the product to
test
the traversal of NAT/Firewall, but has not received a response
from
them. Jill said that Tyler or Bob Dixon would be the
people to contact
on this matter. Nadim said that Tyler
knows a guy from Ridgeway. He
also said that the software
was very expensive.
Jill had heard from Polycom that they do,
in fact, support SSL on the
management port, though she has not
seen this yet.
